CONSTITUTION ETED
1. NAME.
The name of the Association is Enfield Turkish Education Society. (Enfield Turk Egitim Dernegi) (ETED).
(Herein after called “The Association”)

2: OBJECTS AND POWERS.
a) The Association is established to relieve the ‘poverty of, Turkish speaking persons.
To advance education, particularly in the Turkish community, by the provision of classes and educational
Cultural events.
To promote good race relations, particularly by the provision of multi-racial Festivals and sporting events.
b) “In furtherance of the objects but not otherwise, the Executive Committee may exercise the following powers:”
- Bring together in conference, representatives of Voluntary Organizations, Government Departments, Statutory
Authorities and individuals.
- Promote and carry out or assist in promoting and carrying out research, surveys and investigations and publish the useful results thereof
- Arrange and provide for or join in arranging and providing for the holding of exhibitions, meetings, lectures,
Classes, seminars and training courses.
4. Collect and disseminate information on all matters affecting the said- objects whether this country or
Overseas.
- Undertake, execute, manage or assist any charitable trusts, which” may lawfully ‘be undertaken, executed, managed or assisted by the Association.
6Purchase, take on lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any property and any rights and privileges necessary for the promotion of the said objects and construct, maintain and alter any buildings or erections necessary for the work-.of the Association.
7. Make regulations for any property, which may be so acquired.

10. Raise funds and invite and receive contributions from any person or persons whatsoever by way of subscriptions and otherwise provided that the association shall not undertake permanent trading activities in rising founds for the said objects.

11.Invest the money of the Association not immediately required for the said objects or in upon such investments, securities or property as may be thought fit, subject nevertheless to such condition as may for the time being be imposed or required by law.

3. MEMBERSHIP.
a) To become a member of the Association is necessary to:
- Have completed the age of 1
- Pay membership dues.
- Agree to work toward the aims of the association
- Fill in a membership form.
b) Those members of the Association who accept professional or semi-professional employment offered by the Association are not entitled to vote.
4. HONARARY MEMBERSIDP.
By a resolution of the General Meeting to be made upon a proposal of the Executive Committee, Honorary Members shall be chosen from among people who have long served the society selflessly. Members of the society may also submit to the Executive Committee in writing the names of those whom they want to
Become Honorary Members. The Executive Committee shall submit those to the General Meeting and Honorary Members shall be appointed. Honorary Members are not entitled to vote at the meetings of the Executive Committee.
5. EXPULSION FROM MEMBERSHIP
Those who refuse to work in line with the aims of the Association, who are engaged in activities outside the organs against members of the Executive Committee, who refuse to pay membership dues or who under the roof of the Association, conduct themselves in a manner that is incompatible with the value judgments of the community shall be expelled from membership by the decision to be passed with a majority of votes, following verbal and written warnings to be given by EC (Executive Committee). Those who wish to raise any criticism in relation to: the activities of the Association or activities of the Executive Committee must bring this to the attention of the Executive Committee.
6. MEMBERSHIP DUES.
After every General meeting, the newly elected E~ shall fix and make known to the members the amount of membership dues and how these will be paid.
7. THE ORGANS.
1. THE GENERAL MEETING.
a) The General Meeting is the highest organ of the Association.
b) It is held in June every year, with the participation of the members of the Association.
c) The General Meeting is opened if half of the members of all members plus one are present. If half of the number of all members plus one is not present, the General Meeting is opened with the participation of those present, after waiting for half an hour. Firstly, the chair shall be elected, comprising a president and two secretaries, who will conduct the meeting. The chair conducts the General meeting and the proceedings are preserved in the archives of the Association at all times.
d) At the General Meeting, votes are cast by secret ballot and. counted openly. If approved by the General.
Meeting, an open vote may be held.
e) The General Meeting is held at least 21 days after an invitation (designation place and time) is sent to the members.
f) The General Meeting announces the Annual Financial Report and debates and evaluates the Annual Activity.

2.EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (EC).
The EC shall direct the policy and general management of the affairs of the Association: The members of the EC shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Association as described in clause c above. The EC comprises no less then 7 (seven) and no more then 9 (nine) members. A Chairperson, vice-Chairperson, a Treasurer and Secretary are appointed. Where necessary, an assistant Secretary and assistant Treasurer will be appointed as well. The vice-Chairperson shall deputies the chairperson in the absence of the latter and the assistant Secretary and the assistant Treasurer shall deputies the Secretary and the Treasurer respectively in their absence. The EC is obliged to carry out all work of the organization. The EC meets at least once a month and keeps the minutes of the meetings. These minutes of the meetings shall be valid only if they are read and signed by all members of the EC.
The EC may appoint such special or standing committees as may be deemed necessary by the committee and’ shall determine their terms of reference, power, duration and composition. All acts and proceedings of such special or standing committees shall be reported back to the EC as s09n as possible.
Those EC members who fail to attend three meetings without an excuse or five meetings with an excuse (except for illness) shall be removed from office.
3. THE DISCIPLINARY BOARD (DB)
The DB comprises of three members elected by the General Meeting. DB debates and decides upon those issues which are referred to it in writing by the EC or· individual members.
A person who is expelled from membership may apply to the DB within one week or request that the decision be reviewed and if found appropriate, be rescinded.
4. THE AUDIT BOARD (AB)
The AB comprises of three members elected at the GM. The AB audits the accounts and presents a positive or negative report to the GM
5. EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING (EGM) Circumstances in which an EGM is held:ETED
‘A) where half of the total number of the EC members plus one resign.
b) Where it is proved that one or more of the EC members misconduct themselves abusing the name of the
Association to obtain tangible or intangible advantages for themselves.
c) Where the Association is to be dissolved.
d) Where it is necessary to amend the Constitution.
e) Where the EC fails to adopt a resolution in circumstances of critical importance to the Association.
EGM is held if a demand to that effect is signed by one third of the members, stating one or more of the reasons enumerated above and by giving a written notice to the members at least 21 days in advance.ETED
8. DUTIES AND POWERS OF THE:
- CHAIRPERSON.
The Chairperson represents the Association. He/she supervises the performance of duties and responsibilities within the Association. He/she chairs the EC meetings. In conjunction with the Treasurer, he/she makes payments out of and withdraws monies from the bank account of the Association. He/she may incur expenditures which are not over 20 pounds sterling on behalf of the Association, without the approval of the EC. He/she is required to obtain the approval of the EC for expenditures exceeding 20 pounds sterling. At the meetings he/she attends on behalf of the Association. He/she has signatory powers provided that he/she supplies information to the EC. Where he/she is unable to attend a meeting on behalf of the Association, he/she will appoint the Secretary or another member of the EC to act in his/her stead.
He/she performs such duties as are conferred upon him/her by the EC
2.SECRETARY.
The Secretary carries out all correspondence of the Association. He/she < keeps minutes of meetings, causes these to be signed by the EC members before the next meeting, and distributes one copy each to the EC members. This distribution shall be completed at least one week before the meeting.
He/she performs such duties as are conferred upon him/her by the Chairperson and where necessary, represents the ‘Association instead of he Chairperson. Where necessary, he/she makes payments out of and withdraws monies from the account of the Association in conjunction with the Chairperson.
- TREASURER.
The Treasurer draws up annual and where necessary quarterly financial accounts of the Association arid deliver these accounts to all necessary places. In conjunction with the Chairperson or the Secretary, he/she· makes payments out of and withdraws monies from the bank account on behalf of the Association. He/she issues receipts against monies collected from members and earned from the canteen and from activities on behalf of the Association and deposits such monies into the bank account of the Association without making any spending at all. ‘Expenditures made against receipt for the member who made such expenditure by cheque. No cash payment shall be effected.
- ACTIVE EC MEMBERS
The Active EC Members perform such duties as are conferred upon them by the Chairperson and shall supply information to the Chairperson in this respect.
- MINUTES OF MEETINGS.
Proceedings of the General Meetings and the minutes of the EC shall be kept regularly, shall be recorded in the register and shall be preserved at the archives of the Association at all times.
10. ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION.
Any alteration of this Constitution shall receive the assent of not less than two-thirds of the full membership of the Association for the time being whether individual or representative present and voting at a meeting specially called for the purpose provided that notice of any such alteration shall have been received by the Secretary in writing not less than 21 clear days before the meeting at which the alteration is to be proposed. At least 14 clear days notice in writing of such a meeting, setting forth the terms of the alteration, shall be sent by the Secretary to each member of the Association provided that no alteration shall be made which would have the effect of causing the Association to cease to be a charity at law.
11.DISSOLUTION OF THE ASSOCIATION.
If the Executive Committee decides that it is necessary or advisable to dissolve the Association, it shall call a meeting of all its members of which not less then 21 days notice shall be given, stating the terms of the resolution to be proposed.
The Association may only be dissolved if the proposal is confirmed by a two thirds majority of those present at the General Meeting…
Movable or immovable property and financial assets of the Association shall be given or transferred to other charitable institution or institutions having similar aims or objects.
A copy of the statement of accounts for the final accounting period of the Association must be sent to the Charity Commissioners.
12.NOTICES.
Any notices may be served by the Secretary on any members either personally or on its appointed representative as the case may be, or by sending it through the post in a prepaid letter addressed to such member at his/her or its last known address in the UK and the letter so sent shall be deemed to have been received within 10 days of posting.
